The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has announced Shum Jin-Chyi Kevin will be appointed as the director-general of Singapore aviation regulatory body with effect from 2 August 2015. Global air cargo demand stagnating: IATA
The latest data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) shows a further slowdown in global air freight demand in June. Air freight volumes measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTK) rose just 1.2 per cent compared to a year ago. This is consistent with falling trade activity and weaker than expected global growth. Virgin Atlantic Cargo has welcomed the latest moves by other airlines to ban the carriage of hunting trophies and says it is now time for the airline cargo industry to adopt a strict ethical cargo policy to clearly identify shipments not acceptable for carriage. China Southern Airlines on Wednesday made its maiden flight to Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, as it kicked off direct three-times weekly flights from Guangzhou-Nairobi using A330-200 aircraft.
