US carrier parents AMR (American) and UAL (United) have reported fourth quarter losses of US$214 million and US$547 million respectively. AA ups max weight for packages as it covets higher-yield
American Airlines (AA) is targeting higher-yield traffic by increasing the weight limit for its small package shipments. The ceiling for its Priority Parcel Service (PPS) has gone up from 70 pounds (31.8 kilograms) to 100 pounds. PPS traffic moves on the next flight out and requires no advance booking and the carrier sells the product via ticket counters, cargo terminals and dedicated PPS facilities to courier companies and commercial shippers and consumers.
