JD.com eyes US$5 billion IPO for logistics unit
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com is eyeing to list its shipping business JD Logistics in Hong Kong as it looks to ride on China’s post-coronavirus e-commerce boom. Alibaba’s Cainiao launches cargo container booking service
Alibaba’s logistics arm Cainiao launched its container booking service for air and sea freight last week, in response to the global container shortage that had driven up shipping costs to record highs. Cainiao said the service spans over 200 ports in 50 countries, and it would offer 30-40 percent lower cross-border port-to-port shipping fees against the average market rate. Liege Airport weathers 2020; tonnage up 24 percent
Liege Airport was one of the few airports in Europe and the world to perform well despite the nightmarish 2020, thanks to its full-cargo operations. The cargo hub saw a 24 percent increase in tonnage to 1,120,643 tonnes from 902,480 in 2019. The total number of cargo flights grew 10.7 percent to 34,264 flights, with an increase in daytime flights.
