Korean pulls out of SkyTeam cargo alliance
Korean Air has terminated its involvement in the SkyTeam joint venture cargo sales alliance that had been formed with SkyTeam partners Delta and Air France. The Asian carrier's withdrawal effectively ended the joint venture after Delta Cargo decided to pull out late last year. A new transatlantic joint venture between Air France-KLM and Delta Air Lines will boost each partner's profits by up to US$150 million, the two airlines said recently. Delta Air Lines, which bought Northwest Airlines in October, plans to make major changes to aircraft orders both had previously placed with Boeing, according to The Wall Street Journal.
