The JAL Group (JAL) has announced its volume of international cargo in terms of Revenue Cargo Tonne Kilometres (RCTK) in the first quarter (1 April to 30 June 2015) increased by 9.4 per cent year-on-year and international cargo revenue increased by 5.1 per cent to 14.7 billion yen (US$117.8 million). Japan Airlines (JAL) and Japan Post will expand delivery areas for Cool EMS Service to France from 1 April 2015, in addition to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. Meanwhile, the number of post offices available for Cool EMS Service will be increased from 25 to 78 across Japan. Japan Airlines (JAL) reported a 3.1 per cent YoY drop in group net profit for the first three quarters of fiscal 2014, to 119.684 billion yen (US$1.01 billion), despite a nearly double-digit rise in international cargo revenue. JAL introduces new light weight ULDs
JAL Cargo announced that it has started to use 480 new light-weight cargo containers on its international routes. The new ULDs weigh 58 kg, 41 kg less than the old aluminum containers. They are made of synthetic resin in a honeycomb structure which gives them greater strength and flexibility than the old design. A maximum of 44 containers can be loaded on B777-300ER and with this load the aircraft is 1,804 kg lighter than it would be with aluminium cargo containers.
