Jetstar Hong Kong’s application rejected

Qantas Airways' hopes of launching a new low-cost carrier in Hong Kong have been quashed as the territory’s Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA) rejected the application from Qantas to start a new budget airline – Jetstar Hong Kong – on the basis that the ultimate control of the airline would be in Australia and mainland China. Virgin Australia to launch own cargo business

Virgin Australia will launch its own cargo service from 1 July following the end of its current contract with the Toll Group on 30 June. The move is a part of the Group's Virgin Vision 2017 strategy. The launch of Virgin's own cargo service will bring it in direct competition with Toll and Qantas in the air-freight market. Australia’s air freight services industry grew 3.2%

Revenue for operators in the air freight services industry in Australia has grown at a CAGR of 3.2 per cent over the past five years, and is now estimated to be to be worth US$3.3 billion, according to research firm IBISWorld. DB seeks $2.5B damages over air cargo cartel

Qantas to unveil “retro” livery on B737

For the first time in Qantas’ 94 year history, the airline will introduce a "retro" livery on one of its brand new B737 aircraft as a flying tribute to 70 years of its iconic kangaroo logo.
