All three of Qantas' new A380 super jumbo jets are up, up and away once more after being grounded for 24 hours to deal with fuel tank and steering problems, the carrier said. Qantas Airways Ltd and British Airways PLC are targeting annual synergies of at least US$500 million by 2010 as part of their merger discussions, the Australian Financial Review reported. Qantas has admitted its guilt to illegally fixing air cargo freight surcharges to the Australian competition regulator. The airline agreed to pay a A$20 million fine and apologised “unreservedly” for illegally ramping up its freight charges in concert with other international airlines between 2001 and 2006.
