Virgin Atlantic is set to announce an order for up to twelve A350-1000s according to a report in Bloomberg. Quoting unnamed sources, the news wire said the UK carrier is expected to acquire nine of the aircraft with the remainder to be leased. The move, should reports prove accurate, is the result of Virgin’s analysis into replacements for its B747-400 fleet. Airbus has exceeded its targets for 2015, achieving a new record of 635 aircraft deliveries for 85 customers of which 10 are new. These deliveries comprise: 491 A320 Family aircraft; 103 A330s; 27 A380s; and 14 A350 XWBs. Boeing delivered 762 commercial aircraft in 2015, 39 more than the previous year and most ever for the company as it enters its centennial year.
