The Vietnamese Transport Ministry has authorised restructure of the air freight market by 2020. The plan is to develop the cargo transport market and increase the role of airfreight, especially in key economic zones and remote areas, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Thursday. Alitalia to end deal with Air France-KLM in 2017
Italy's Alitalia announced it will not renew its partnership and joint venture agreements with Air France-KLM when the deal expires in 2017. The partnership, writes Radiocor press agency, concerns the passenger services of the airlines between France, Italy and the Netherlands, along with marketing, the sale and distribution of Alitalia's cargo belly services operated by Air France-KLM. UPS to pay US$25M for false delivery claims
UPS will pay more than US$25 million to settle charges it submitted false claims to the federal government in connection with delivery of Next Day Air overnight packages, the US Department of Justice said. The settlement stemmed from a whisteblower lawsuit filed in federal court in Virginia by former UPS employee Robert K. Fulk. The department said that from 2004 to 2014, UPS repeatedly did not meet the standards of its Next Day Air delivery service under contracts with the government. Flag carrier Philippine Airlines has joined other international carriers in banning the shipment of lithium ion batteries due to the potential fire hazards posed by such type of cargo. Cathay, Dragonair April cargo traffic up 5.2%
Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried 144,579 tonnes of cargo and mail last month, an increase of 5.2 per cent compared to the same month last year. The cargo and mail load factor fell by 0.5 percentage points to 62.6 per cent.
