Qatar Airways is continuing its rapid growth and responding to what it says is increasing demand within Europe with a substantial increase in flight frequencies to Stockholm in Sweden, Copenhagen in Denmark and Brussels in Belgium. Philippine Airlines to outsource ground handling
In an effort to sustain profitability, Philippine Airlines has announced that it will be laying off as many as 117 domestic ground crew beginning in November. In addition, the airline plans to cut costs further in other areas and limit spending in the coming year. Thailand’s NokScoot eying Hawaiian route
Bangkok-based NokScoot is planning to cooperate with Singapore joint venture partner Scoot on planned flights to Hawaii. Patee Sarasin, the CEO of the budget carrier's Thai partner Nok Air, said that while NokScoot could deploy its fleet of B777-200ERs on flights to Honolulu, it would prefer to use Scoot's more economical fleet of B787s. Malaysia Airlines Bhd to operate new A350-900s
The recently-relaunched Malaysian national carrier that was rebranded from Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) to Malaysia Airlines Berhard (MAB), has signed a contract with US-based Air Lease Corporation (ALC) for the long-term lease of four new A350-900s. Engine fire forces BA 777 to abort take off
A British Airways aircraft engine caught fire in Las Vegas as it was about to take off for London, Gatwick Tuesday night (US west coast time), forcing all 172 passengers and crew to escape down emergency slides as smoke and flames engulfed the aircraft.
