From Munich across the pond: Effective immediately, US airline United Airlines is resuming its flight connection to Washington. Terminal 1 at Munich Airport, where passenger operations were temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus crisis, is set to open its doors to passengers again very soon. Terminal areas C, D, and E will resume operations initially on July 8. United Airlines announced that its newest premium seating, is on sale beginning December 3, for travel on select international flights starting March 30, 2019. United rejigs fleet orders as it accelerates B747 retirement
United Airlines has announced it will retire its B747 fleet from scheduled service by the end of 2018. Additionally, the airline said it will be converting B787 orders originally anticipated for delivery in 2020 and beyond into four B777-300ERs and five B787-9s beginning in 2017. These conversions will accommodate the accelerated retirement of the B747s while also meeting United’s capacity needs, it said.
