We couldn’t help but jump onto the bandwagon discussing the recent debacle that United Airlines found themselves in after two teenage girls were not allowed to board a flight from Denver to Minneapolis; because they were wearing leggings. United rejigs fleet orders as it accelerates B747 retirement

United Airlines has announced it will retire its B747 fleet from scheduled service by the end of 2018. Additionally, the airline said it will be converting B787 orders originally anticipated for delivery in 2020 and beyond into four B777-300ERs and five B787-9s beginning in 2017. These conversions will accommodate the accelerated retirement of the B747s while also meeting United’s capacity needs, it said. United launches ground handling subsidiary

United Airlines has announced the launch of a wholly owned ground handling subsidiary, United Ground Express, to provide ground handling services including cargo handling at select, smaller airports in the US. United supports Nepal relief efforts

United Airlines will work with its disaster relief partners the American Red Cross, Americares, Airlink and Operation USA to provide aid to those affected by the earthquake in Nepal. Beginning today, United will provide up to a total of US$50,000 to match donations to these partner organisations from United customers and employees. ANA, UAL get approval for cargo JV

All Nippon Airways has been granted antitrust immunity for proposed trans-Pacific cargo joint venture between All Nippon Airways (ANA) and United Airlines (UA) by MLIT (Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism). Delta,United and AA ban rechargeable batteries

Major US airlines have banned rechargeable battery shipments, as new government tests confirm that explosions and violent fires are likely to occur when large numbers of batteries enclosed in cargo containers overheat. Citing safety concerns, United Airlines on Monday informed its cargo customers it no longer will accept bulk shipments of lithium-ion batteries.
