Brussels Airlines switches out ECS for ALG
Europe's Brussels Airlines Cargo has appointed Air Logistics Group (ALG) as its new global GSSA with effect from 1 September, replacing European Cargo Services (ECS). The airline says that last year, its cargo traffic grew 34 per cent on north Atlantic routes and in the past five years the cargo division has seen double digit growth network-wide. FedEx may be on the verge of a US$10 billion order for 50 or more B767-300Fs and up to 10 B777Fs worth another $3.2 billion at list prices, according to a report in Leeham News and Comment citing "Market Intelligence". In the first six months of this year, Lufthansa Cargo carried 811,000 tonnes of freight and post. This is a 0.5 per cent increase over the same period the previous year and means the cargo carrier is holding its own in a challenging market environment, the it said, pointing to "flexible supply management" as being a key strategy.
