Boeing, the Lufthansa Group and Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) have finalised an order for three additional 777-300ER (extended Range) aircraft, valued at US$990 million at current list prices. Malaysia Airlines is set to sell off a number of widebody aircraft as it restructures its network and fleet, news website Flightglobal reported. Malaysia's national carrier has started marketing some of its B777-200ERs and A330-200 freighters to potential purchasers, Flightglobal said, citing industry sources familiar with the matter. Korean Air Aerospace Division (KAL-ASD), the aerospace manufacturing division of the Korean Air Group, has been selected by Airbus to supply new Sharklet wingtip devices including a wingspan extension for the A330neo – the new variant of the A330 Family of widebody aircraft. Cargolux Airlines has announced a temporarily ban on the transport of lithium ion battery (UN3480) shipments starting on 1 May 2015. The decision comes after reviewing new information released by the FAA, Boeing and ICAO regarding the effectiveness of the on-board fire extinguishing systems in case of lithium ion battery fires and the temperatures that such fires can develop.
