The first A350-900 for Singapore Airlines completed its maiden flight over the skies of South West France yesterday. The aircraft will now enter the final phase of production, including further ground checks and test flights, before being prepared for delivery in the coming weeks. Assembly of the main airframe sections of the first A350 XWB for China Airlines is advancing at Airbus’ Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse, France. This involves the assembly of the wing-fuselage junction, the installation of the tailplane and also the tailcone. Virgin Atlantic said be considering A350-1000 order
Virgin Atlantic is set to announce an order for up to twelve A350-1000s according to a report in Bloomberg. Quoting unnamed sources, the news wire said the UK carrier is expected to acquire nine of the aircraft with the remainder to be leased. The move, should reports prove accurate, is the result of Virgin’s analysis into replacements for its B747-400 fleet. Airbus delivers record aircraft in 2015, breaks even on A380
Airbus has exceeded its targets for 2015, achieving a new record of 635 aircraft deliveries for 85 customers of which 10 are new. These deliveries comprise: 491 A320 Family aircraft; 103 A330s; 27 A380s; and 14 A350 XWBs. Boeing delivered 762 commercial aircraft in 2015, 39 more than the previous year and most ever for the company as it enters its centennial year. In 2015, Boeing recorded 768 net orders, valued at US$112.4 billion at current list prices. At year end, Boeing held 5,795 unfilled orders from customers worldwide.
